Who should take this course?
The PADI Underwater Navigator course is suitable for any diver who wishes to improve their navigation skills and become a more confident independent diver. The PADI Underwater Navigator course fine-tunes your observation skills and teaches you to more accurately use your compass underwater. If you like challenges with big rewards, take this course and have fun finding your way.
You'll start by reading the Underwater Navigator manual and completing knowledge reviews at home at your own pace. You'll then complete three dives where you'll practice both natural navigation and using a compass. Skills include:
- Methods to estimate distance underwater
- Compass navigation while making at least five turns
- Marking or relocating a submerged object or position from the surface
- Underwater map making
What will I need?
You will need a full set of dive kit suitable for the environmental and weather conditions. If you do not already have your own kit, we can rent you a set at a reduced rate for the duration of the course.
A compass and slate will also be useful during this course. Dive Academy can provide these if required.
You will require your own mask, fins, snorkel and boots as Dive Academy does not rent this equipment. Cylinder and weights will be provided at no additional charge.
Are there any restrictions?
Participants in the PADI Underwater Navigator course must have previously completed an Open Water (or equivalent) training course and be at least 10 years of age. A medical form must be satisfactorily completed before lessons can commence.
Please check the medical form on a separate tab and ensure that you can complete this before booking your course.
