Do you want to make a difference on every dive but are not sure where to begin? Gain the knowledge and skills to activate your inner citizen scientist with the Dive Against Debris speciality. With your dive buddies and Instructor, you'll learn: - About marine debris, the damage done, what it is, where it comes from and how divers are part of the solution - How to establish a Dive Against Debris® survey, the survey frequency, sites, profiles and equipment. You'll also discuss the use of photography and knowing what debris to leave behind - How to make your survey count. The five easy steps to report the debris you’ve removed to maximise each survey’s benefits - How to join the global Project AWARE movement of scuba divers protecting our ocean planet During your one open water dive, you will conduct a Dive Against Debris® survey, including weighing, sorting, recording, disposing and reporting your marine debris to Project AWARE. You will develop the confidence and skills to conduct Dive against Debris surveys and become part of the solution to keeping our oceans clean. PADI Open Water Divers (or equivalent) aged 12 and over can take part in the AWARE Dive Against Debris speciality. We recommend that you carry an underwater slate and a debris bag on this dive. Standard kit hire is not included in the course price. If you are a Dive Academy member you will receive free standard kit hire for recreational courses taken with us.
