PADI Advanced Open Water with DSMB
Add a DSMB speciality to your AOW and save £100
All the details:
The PADI Open Water Diver course teaches you to be a diver. PADI Advanced Open Water Diver encourages you to move towards ‘thinking like a diver’ while helping you to build confidence and expand your scuba skills through five different Adventure Dives. You don’t have to be ‘advanced’ to take it - it’s designed to advance your diving so you can start right after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification. This package includes the Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) speciality certification. Most UK divers wouldn’t think of diving without carrying a delayed surface marker buoy. Knowing how to properly deploy and manage a DSMB are invaluable skills learned in this course, and yet this is one of the critical skills that many divers overlook. They're usually the ones who you hear on the boat saying to another diver "can I dive with you because I'm not comfortable deploying a DSMB." After a thorough briefing and demonstration from your instructor, you'll learn how to deploy a surface marker buoy from depth using a reel or spool, then in an additional dive (six in total) you'll also deploy the marker buoy neutrally buoyant from depth. You'll learn the different types of reel and spool available, and also the different types of DSMB and methods of deployment. You’ll be encouraged to think about what you’re doing before, during and after every Adventure Dive in the same way more experienced divers do. It focuses on principles such as gas management, situational awareness and buddy communications. You try out the first dive of five different specialities while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving. Part of the fun of diving is choosing your own equipment and Advanced Open Water is the time to start thinking about this (if you haven’t already). You’ll be a better and safer diver if each time you dive you are in your own familiar, well maintained gear. In particular for this course you will require your own compass and we would recommend an underwater torch. Kit hire is not included in the cost of the course. Dive Academy members receive free kit hire when participating in our courses. Speak to a member of the team about membership. PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old are ready to enrol in an Advanced Open Water Diver course. This course takes place over two days - usually a weekend.
